We are a group of planners, wedding enthusiasts, organization fanatics, design devotees, and passionate believers that a well executed event should, and can be, the standard. We are a team of women leading the charge to make technology accessible for wedding planning professionals. We are a company pushing forward and making things happen. We are Aisle Planners.
Looking back on the past few years, it wasn’t too long ago when “the offices of Aisle Planner” really just equaled me — party of one — sitting at my desk, working away. Every morning, after dropping my daughter off at school and seeing the hubby off to work, I’d diligently rush to the office, settle in with a cup of coffee (or two) and channel my energies into making a dent in what seemed to be a never ending list of tasks and daily goals that needed to be accomplished. I’d end office hours early to rush out the door to pick up my daughter from school, only to resume work from home until the wee hours of the morning. I was investing all of my time and energy into what I hoped would someday be something, and more often than not, it was easy to feel that no matter how much time, energy and heart I poured into Aisle Planner, the goals I had set for myself (and my business) seemed forever and a day away.
Fast forward a couple of years and the story has changed. My days are no longer spent alone, rather, they are spent in an office that buzzes with energy. We’re now a team of five, and I’m overwhelmed with the progress we have made as a team. I get to work with four of the most amazing women who inspire me to no end as they pour their hearts into this little project of mine. They are driven, creative, and thoughtful people, and I couldn’t imagine Aisle Planner without.
These days, we work on many things. We work creatively to make things happen. We work fiercely to push Aisle Planner to bigger and better things. But what excites me the most is simply that we are working together. We cannot wait to meet you!
A Hawaii-native who now calls San Diego’s sleepy little beach town of Cardiff-by-the-Sea home, Christina Farrow founded Aisle Planner in 2013 after over 15 years in the wedding planning industry left her searching for the perfect planning technology. Inspired by the possibility of helping small business owners lead more balanced lives (and never lose passion for their work because of a lack of smart solutions), Christina knew there had to be a wedding-planning way that didn’t involve inefficient ways and binders overflowing with paper. Aisle Planner was born out of the belief in this better way (goodbye, binders full of unruly paper; hello, the freedom of a medium that isn’t affected by a windy day).
Prior to founding Aisle Planner, Christina got her start planning corporate events for a boutique advertising agency, but eventually traded the corporate world for the (much dreamier) world of weddings, where she spent 15 years specializing in high-end destination weddings. She works everyday to better the Aisle Planner platform and, in turn, better the lives of small business owners.
A Creighton University graduate, Christina is always planning her next adventure, whether a nearby hike, an upcoming road trip or travels afar. A visit to the beach is never more than a few days away. When she isn’t working, chances are she’s…working, even if that means hammering away on her laptop with her toes in the sand and her husband, daughter and ever-loyal Golden Retriever by her sunny side.
As the team’s Creative Director, Charis Mix oversees Aisle Planner’s brand development and visual marketing assets and helps to keep the Aisle Planner interface oh-so beautiful (and even more so, user friendly). A design-guru who appreciates a good challenge, Charis loves working in an industry with a high standard for style (and one that rarely overlooks a design detail). When she’s not honing in on pretty pixels, though, she’s probably playing tennis or cooking. Or watching either on TV.
Charis earned her B.F.A. in graphic design from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and, prior to joining Aisle Planner, worked as a freelance graphic designer for a range of clients in the non-profit and tech industries. She also gained experience working as a designer for Mindjet, a computer software company responsible for a mind-mapping software used by over 83 percent of Fortune 100 companies.
Charis finds her fuel in a good glass of Syrah, a new episode of Shark Tank and the continual pursuit of simplifying her life (which sometimes even means traveling sans laptop). She fancies herself an ice-cream enthusiast (Graeter’s black raspberry chocolate chip will always hold a special place in her heart), but will also go for a great cup o’ joe from a new coffee shop (likely one she’s scoped out on her bike). She loves few things more than movies that involve ridiculous plots, rogue undercover agents and high-speed car chases, and would take a blockbuster hit over an indie flick any day of the week.
Meghan Laurs works as the team’s Director of Customer Engagement, connecting with clients to make sure that all Aisle Planners are happy planners. When she’s not solving the world’s problems, she’s spending time with her son and daughter, practicing yoga and trying (very hard) to meditate.
Meghan earned a B.A. in Political Science, International Relations from UCSB and spent a year abroad studying Chinese at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (although she currently only speaks enough to order dim sum). She received an MBA from the University of Washington. Prior to joining Aisle Planner, Meghan gained experience working as a business development manager for ProFlowers.com and, more recently, as president of Cardiff School’s Education Association, a role that involved oversight of 30 different committees, organizing lots of well-run fundraising and community events, and spearheading (tons of) meetings.
A lover of all-things natural, Meghan holds certifications in homeopathy, bach flower essences and Reiki I and II. (Is that lavender we smell?) When she’s not channeling her inner-chi to heal, she spends time volunteering on a wide range of service projects with her daughter through the National Charity League. She loves few things more than devouring dark chocolate, being surrounded by nature and rocking a killer high-scoring word in Scrabble (like homeopathy).
Tayler Hollman joined the Aisle Planner crew in 2015 as the Media and Marketing Director, managing the team’s editorial calendar and keeping its social-media channels super savvy. When she’s not using her (super-human) organizational and storytelling skills to showcase the work of event planners who fancy themselves Aisle planners, you can find her running, cycling, rock climbing, skateboarding or surfing (despite the fact that she’s — surprise! — terrified of the ocean).
Prior to joining Aisle Planner, Tayler worked in the non-profit space, running an afterschool program for the YMCA that served 100 middle-school children every day — a role that prepared her to thrive in the most chaotic of environments (ohhhhm). She earned her Master’s in Sociology from California State University, Fullerton and started her own creative consulting firm working with small business owners in the wedding industry before joining the Aisle Planner team.
Tayler has a hard time sitting still and loves nothing more than a good to-do list (preferably written on fine paper). Should you ever need to win Tayler’s heart (or bribe her), a homemade baked good will do, as will anything that involves pretty gold foil. (May we suggest a cupcake in a gold-foil liner?) Aside from baked goods, her guilty pleasures include arranging things in height order (we told you she was a super-human organizer) and sneaking away to Baja for a long weekend in wine country.
Katherine Oyer recently joined the team and serves as Director of Public Relations for Aisle Planner, where she oversees the company’s communication strategies and media relations. Katherine is a wedding obsessed entrepreneur, operating her own luxury wedding planning company, Lucky & In Love, serving happy couples throughout the west coast, including Phoenix, Scottsdale, San Diego, San Francisco and Seattle. Katherine’s work has been featured in 100 Layer Cake, Magnolia Rouge and Style Me Pretty, among others.
Prior to her entrepreneurial leap of faith, Katherine was a member of the in-house public relations team at Neiman Marcus where she planned and executed more than 300 events per year. She led communications campaigns for the Arizona Lottery, Morton’s The Steakhouse, Tropicana Las Vegas and the American Cancer Society, to name a few, during her tenure at the largest advertising and PR agency in the Southwest. She is a featured guest columnist for several online and print publications, and regularly speaks on floral design, luxury events and wedding planning. In her free time, Katherine spends her days daydreaming about her next world travel adventure with her husband, and is forever in search of the perfect cup of coffee. She is a believer in true love, shopping local, and fresh flowers for no reason.
We’d LOVE to meet you! We will be at The Jam Event tonight. Come find us and say hello!
