2016 Wedding Trends & The Pantone Color of the Year

The fact that we’re approaching the tail-end of 2015 is something we’re still coming to grips with—where did the year go, people? But, to keep us from having a total meltdown over lost time, we’re focusing our efforts on 2016 and what the new year will look like wedding-wise. So, bust out your crystal ball and get ready to take some serious notes as we breakdown our three main predictions for 2016 wedding trends.

Wedding Dresses

Ethereal is everything. Floral appliqués, feathers, sheer layers and tiny details will be all the rage in 2016. We’re also predicting some seriously modern silhouettes: Can someone say two-piece? Peekaboos, cropped tops and Victorian structure are all going to be big. You don’t have to take our word for it, just take a look at the Australian-based Bo & Luca’s newest collection (and try not to pass out). Among our favorites? The Dalton with its oh-so-sexy silhouette; the holy-billowing peekaboo Risley and the dreamy and layer-claden Alphen.

Craft Cocktails

With the rise of the craft cocktail in hip downtown bars across the nation, we’re predicting this trend will make its way into weddings (even more so than it already has) in 2016. Among the crowd favorites? Mules. After all, who can resist those always-charming copper mugs? We love the idea of putting your own twist on the classic moscow mule, though. Try a Mexican Mule with tequila for a destination wedding with a colorful fiesta aesthetic. Or, go earthy and try a lavender mule for an outdoor lakeside affair. We also love the idea of creating signature cocktails that have some sort of significance to the couple. Are you two suckers for a brunch date? Serve up some bacon-garnished Bloody Marys. Did you meet in the desert? Why not add a sage garnish to your signature cocktail? Can’t think of anything creative? Try recreating the house cocktail from your favorite restaurant or bar.

Unisex Color Palettes

Girls just wanna have fun, but we’re pretty sure guys just wanna have their groomsmen walk down the aisle in anything but pink and lavender. Well, raise a glass and light a cigar, men, we’re predicting 2016 will be your year for gender-neutral color palettes. Among our predictions for colors that will likely take center stage in 2016? Peach Echo, a shade as warm as it is easy to wear. We love the Pantone combo of Peach Echo, Rose Quartz and Fiesta for a spring affair or Peach Echo, Serenity and Snorkel Blue for a fall wedding. A surefire way to man-up any palette, though? Work in some soft greys throughout your decor and sage greens in your florals. Your man will thank you later.

Bonus points today! The Pantone Color of the Year was just announced this morning and the picks were Rose Quartz and Serenity!

That’s what we’ve rounded up today, but we want to hear from you: What trends do you think will make their way down the aisle in 2016?
