6 Breathtaking Hawaiian Wedding Venues

No one needs to tell you that Hawaii is a popular wedding destination. With over 23,000 weddings per year, the Aloha State boasts some of the most stunning venues (and sunsets, cliffs, rainbows…you get the idea) on the planet to satisfy the demand. We asked some of our island experts for their picks on the most breathtaking Hawaiian wedding venues and why you should fall in love too.

Andaz Maui at Wailea

“So, which Hawaiian venue takes our breath away? The team’s current fav would have to be the ultra-stylish Hawaiian hot-spot, and newly-unveiled eco-luxe resort, Andaz Maui at Wailea. If your destination celebration dreams include elements that reflect your modern and savvy lifestyle, while still being authentically local to ‘today’s Hawaii’, you have got to check out this beauty!

Located on the Southern tip of Maui—in luxurious Wailea—this venue exudes a casual-cool ambiance as far as can be from traditional. The venue being brand new and stylish is a major plus. We love the design elements incorporated throughout the venue, thoughtful and minimalist architecture, serving as jaw-dropping backdrops for those once-in-a-lifetime Hawaiian memories. By far our favorite element of this venue are the many different locations on-site. The continued wow experiences we’ve been able to design here for destination groups when hosting one or more celebrations during their visit is incredible. From sunset gatherings on the poolside rooftop, to brunch soirees in the studio style interactive kitchens, to whimsical receptions on the spanning oceanfront lawns—this venue has offered us time and again the ultimate hub on Maui for chic event gatherings.

BFF Tip: We can’t get over the ultra-luxe Andaz villas available for hire bordering the event lawns and have truly been captivated by the vibrancy of the sophisticated setting as it’s transformed into your very own tropical backyard for the evening. Certainly a glamorous spot to take your breath away on the magical island of Maui, Hawaii.”

Merriman’s Kapulua

“Merriman’s Kapulua is not only a breathtaking venue on the cliffs of Kapalua Bay, Maui but it is one of Hawaii’s finest farm to table venues. With locations on three islands, each menu showcases produce and seafood that is overwhelmingly local and Merriman’s Kapalua truly celebrates the local bounty of Maui. If you are a foodie at heart, this place should definitely be on your short list of venues to consider!

The venue boasts cliff side grassy knolls, a seaside deck, open-air bar, and oceanfront lounge area. The property can host weddings large and small and has a range of options for you to create chic and delicious event!”

Kahua Ranch

“High above the Kohala coast, where the earth ends and heaven begins, sits Kahua Ranch. Where proud warriors once trained, and Hawaii’s paniolo continue in the tradition of ranching, couples are invited to celebrate their love in union among 8500 acres of rolling pasture. Rich with history and stunning beauty, Kahua Ranch is an exceptional alternative to the predictable Hawaiian wedding venue. We love it because it is quiet, private, low key, affordable and refreshingly unexpected—and did we mention that the fun can extend into the wee hours!

The deck and barn offer an open air-covered space, suited for casual family style BBQ’s but is versatile enough to be transformed for luxe weddings. For those who want a blank canvas, events can be built from scratch on the expansive lawn which boasts sweeping views of the Kohala coast and Maui. With the simplicity of the ranch, friendliness of the staff and minimal restrictions, we feel welcome to explore our creativity.”

Four Seasons Lanai

“The island of Lanai is such a beautiful escape from its much busier neighboring islands, making it the perfect location for a destination wedding, sans tourists and overcrowding. It’s among the smallest (and least trafficked) of the Hawaiian Islands, and the island’s laid-back vibe (coupled with the five-star service Four Seasons is known for) makes for an unexpected combination perfect for those looking for high-end amenities in a quiet and somewhat isolated location. Currently, wrapping up a 27-million-dollar renovation, this luxury hotel offers a number of ocean-view venues to die for.”

Kualoa Ranch

“Perfect for the everyday adventurer, Kualoa Ranch is a private nature reserve (check out this video) tucked away on Oahu’s North Easterly shore. Offering a wide (and diverse) range of stunning event venues (not to mention some of Hawaii’s most famous backdrops where movies like Jurassic Park have been filmed), the planning possibilities at Kualoa Ranch are seemingly endless.

Some venues sit right on the beach, others are tucked away at the base of a grand mountain range, and others sit on an ancient Hawaiian fishpond. One of my favorite ceremony locations, though? Secret Island Beach where guests must ride to the unbelievably enchanting venue by boat. Worth noting? Kualoa Ranch is a working ranch and full of lush, wet greenery, so mosquitoes are prevalent. But don’t let its more rustic aspects turn you away. Just be prepared with mosquito repellent–the insane tropical views and surroundings outweigh the mosquitoes any day.”

“A shoreline location offering a breathtaking unobstructed sunset-over-the-ocean view, Lanikuhonua literally means “where heaven meets the Earth” in Hawaiian. I love that this location is such a nice departure from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki and downtown Honolulu on Oahu, but still close enough (and easy enough) to get to. A huge bonus—it happens to be located on the “driest” corner of the island, making it a much safer bet for outdoor weddings (especially those without a tent).

This venue (and it’s dreamy swaying palm trees) make it such a romantic spot for an evening affair where guests can dance the night away under the stars. One thing to be aware of, though? Weekend dates book up quickly, so act fast.”
