As wedding planners, we’re always on the lookout for the season’s latest trends—and one of our all-time favorite seasons for our couples to say I Do happens to be fall. With leaves changing and the weather (finally) cooling down, autumn affairs are among our all-time favorites, as you’re not relegated to an airy spring palette or dark, saturated winter hues and, instead, can pick and choose the details that speak to you most to create your idea of a stunning fall soirée. In short, the options are truly endless when it comes to hosting a fall wedding. Today, then, to help you as you plan the perfect autumn nuptials, we’ve rounded up three of our favorite fall 2017 wedding trends. Read on…and get ready for some serious design inspo.

Detailed, Ethereal Bridesmaids Dresses

Bridesmaids dresses are typically a single, solid hue, but we’re loving the super detailed, whimsical designs we’re seeing on the runway for bridesmaids dresses this season. With embroidery, beading and intricate detailing all abound, we say ditch the solid-hued bridesmaids gowns and opt for something more dramatic and ethereal instead. For a classically romantic affair, we love the Amada Dress by BHLDN. For a boho-inspired soirée, we’re swooning over BHLDN’s stunning Bobbi Dress and their gorgeous Joni Dress. And, for brides looking for their tribe to don something Grecian and chic, we’re head over heels for the Aida Dress—its super detailed top plays perfectly with the understated simplicity of the skirt.

Velvet, Velvet…and More Velvet

Velvet is a trend that seems to come back around every fall—and for good reason. There’s nothing quite as romantic, lush and downright indulgent as a great velvet detail, which makes it the perfect fabric to incorporate into weddings. We have serious shoe envy over BHLDN’s Audrey Heels (both the rose and raspberry hues are particularly perfect for a fall affair). For brides looking to get ready in oh-so chic style, we love the idea of ditching the overplayed short, silk, pastel robes for this stunning (and sophisticated) floor-length Laurie Velvet Robe (your photographer will thank you). The Veranda Velvet Burnout Wrap also makes for the perfect wrap to throw over a bridal gown on a chilly fall night—its subtle fringe detailing and striking embroidery makes it especially great for a boho-inspired affair. And, for couples looking to dip their toe in the velvet pool without going overboard, why not switch out that leather guest book for BHLDN’s Handsome Velvet Guestbook in a dreamy emerald or saturated charcoal hue?

Unexpected Greens

While mint and lime have their place in spring weddings, we love that the lesser-known greens get to take center stage during the fall season. From olive to sage to basil, fall weddings are the perfect place to incorporate unexpected green design details. We’re absolutely in love with this Ginger Convertible Maxi Dress in Olive or this stunning Jenny Yoo Inesse Dress in Olive or Emerald for your bride tribe. We also love the simplicity of Wedding Paper Diva’s Sophisticated Contrast Wedding Invitations in Basil, and we’re swooning over these stunning (and timeless) Romantic Branches Invitations in an understated Rosemary hue.

Overall, fall weddings are all about balance. You’re out of the pastel floral ballpark, but haven’t quite made it to the dark, saturated hues of winter yet, which means you’re free to mix and match palettes and details that feel both airy and decadent—just like the season itself. We love the freedom fall weddings offer, and we’re especially swooning over the three fall 2017 wedding trends we’ve broken down above—from olive hues to velvet details that beg to be touched, we can’t wait to see what this year’s fall weddings have in store!
