With April’s focus being all about the art of silliness, we wanted to take today to offer you a  roundup of three silly strong women we love—along with some pretty darn inspiring (and hilarious) quotes from each. Pour yourself a glass of wine and get ready to burn some serious calories laughing—these women will leave you inspired, entertained and empowered.

Amy Poehler

As the queen of self-deprecating comedy, there’s just something about Amy Poehler we absolutely can’t get enough of. She manages to communicate both relatable vulnerability and unwavering strength—and we think nearly every woman out there can relate to that contradictory (yet empowering) place where are both are housed. We especially love Amy’s commitment to comedy above all. She constantly teaches us there’s a special confidence to be found in not caring how silly or ridiculous you look.

Our favorite inspiring quote: “As you navigate through the rest of your life, be open to collaboration. Other people and other people’s ideas are often better than your own. Find a group of people who challenge and inspire you, spend a lot of time with them, and it will change your life.”

Our favorite silly quote: “Always remember your kid’s name. Always remember where you put your kid. Don’t let your kid drive until their feet can reach the pedals. Use the right size diapers… for yourself. And, when in doubt, make funny faces.”

Jessica Williams

Actress, comedian, writer and podcast-professionale Jessica Williams is one of those women who will have you buckled over with laughter one moment, and deep in thought (with tears welling at the corners of your eyes) the next. She’s brilliant, beautiful and absolutely fearless when it comes to her writing and delivery. We especially love that Williams manages to be both super thoughtful and fiercely unapologetic in her work at once.

Our favorite inspiring quote: “It’s impossible to be perfect, and you won’t do a good job if you’re too focused on proving yourself to others.”

Our favorite silly quote: “The last thing I do before bed is think I should take my contacts out. Then I fall asleep.”

Cheryl Strayed

Writer Cheryl Strayed is quite possibly the only person in the world who could write about hiking the PCT solo (read her bestseller Wild, if you haven’t already) after the death of her mother and still find ways to make the reader keel over with laughter. While she’s deep and analytic in certain passages, she’s lighthearted and fiercely funny in others—and this is true across of all her work. We have her book of quotes, “Brave Enough” sitting on our desk and flip through it a few times a week for much-needed inspiration. (Tip: It’s a great book to keep out on a table in your studio for clients to flip through as they wait.)

Our favorite inspiring quote: “The people who don’t give up are the people who find a way to believe in abundance rather than scarcity. They’ve taken into their hearts the idea that there is enough for all of us, that success will manifest itself in different ways for different people, that keeping the faith is more important than cashing the check.”

Our favorite silly quote: “Forgiveness doesn’t just sit there like a pretty boy in a bar. Forgiveness is the old fat guy you have to haul up the hill.”
