Wedding Inspiration: The World is My Oyster

I must admit, we’re more than a little spoiled in our little neighborhood of Cardiff-by-the-Sea here on the California Coast. In a place where the sun is always shining, it’s not often we get to experience a true turn of the seasons (I know, #californiaproblems). But as Fall creeps in and the temperatures barely start to dip, I stare out the window at yet another bright and sunny day and a part of me craves the coziness of a muted gray landscape. It’s days like that where my focus seems to be on hyper drive, my vision for the future is clear (even though the skies are not), and opportunities abound. And I love that looking at these images can take me to that place. One thing that I find planners tend to have in common is a strong belief in the fact that what the eye sees has power to evoke a deeper response—one that can change our attitude, outlook, and entire day. That’s how I feel when I look at the images below—I’m reminded of an atmosphere and aesthetic I love, and that has the power to set my mood for the day. I’m in southern California, but I’m blessed with a creativity that allows me to be in the PNW eating a big bowl of clam chowder (more crackers, please). Just as, when I plan a wedding, I can take the couple and their guests to whatever setting, mood or atmosphere they choose —even if just for a night. That’s what being a planner is all about—boundless creativity allowing for boundless freedom. To that, I say, the world is your oyster.

“Why then the world’s mine oyster/Which I with sword will open.”
William Shakespeare
